The Molo Mansion, built in 1926 by Don Estanislao Yusay, is an American-Neoclassical property  which looks like it was taken straight out of the pages of a history book.

Ever wonder why, in spite of the nation's harsh weather, centuries-old structures like this one continue to stand? Simply put, the mansion is well-taken care of.

When SM Prime purchased it in 2014, the old structure was conserved and converted into a center of culture. The Molo Mansion bridges the past and present by aesthetically uniting people and art.

Housing Visayan culture

It is home to several cafes and food stores as well as Kultura Filipino, the leading souvenir brand in the nation. It also functions as an art gallery, hosting performances and exhibits by regional artists.

There is an art gallery on the second floor where regional artists can display their creations. In addition, the mansion grounds host cultural events and musical performances, including fitness classes.

As an art haven

Serving as an art gallery for the Himbon Ilonggo Contemporary Artists Group and its collaborators is among the Molo Mansion's most noteworthy contributions.

The house has played host to a number of collaborative exhibitions and art exchanges, including the Bayluhanay series and the roadshow "My City, My SM, My Art," which honored Philippine visual arts including painting, sculpture, and more.

Alfredo Esquillo's Eskinita Art Gallery and Himbon members have been hosting the Bayluhanay series at SM since 2018. The goal of Bayluhanay, which is Hiligaynon for "exchange," is to encourage artistic collaboration and learning.

When visiting the mansion, tourists may see SM Prime's efforts to conserve the values and recollections that characterize Ilonggo art. It is only fitting that people who have influenced the local scene and provided opportunities for future generations of artists are recognized in this structure.

By showcasing their own native skills, Molo Mansion has brought Ilonggos together and inspired them to value art more.
