Starting October 20, sea travel from Manila to Siargao will be more accessible and stylish than ever. Philippine ferry operator 2GO Travel has officially announced a new weekly route connecting the capital to the world-famous surfing destination of Siargao, marking a major development for domestic tourism and travel convenience.
The 28-hour voyage will be operated aboard the Saint Francis Xavier, a 1,900-passenger vessel, and will depart from Manila every Monday, arriving in Siargao the following day. Fares start at just PHP2,000 for super mega value accommodations, offering budget-friendly options for both locals and tourists.
Filipino Hospitality Meets Cruise-Like Experience
More than just a ferry ride, 2GO Travel promises an experience at sea that mirrors international cruise standards. According to Francis Chua, 2GO Travel’s business unit head, passengers can expect a warm welcome—literally. “A welcome dance will greet the passengers to showcase the hospitality and warmth of the Filipinos,” he said. “It will be like being on an international cruise ship: a world-class experience that would give comfort to our sea travellers.”
The ship is decked out with a variety of amenities designed to keep passengers entertained and relaxed, including a salon and spa, dining halls, café, karaoke rooms, souvenir shops, an arcade, nightly live band performances, and even a clinic on board.
New Routes on the Horizon?
While 2GO is focused for now on the Manila–Siargao journey, Chua hinted at broader plans in the pipeline. The company is working closely with the Philippine Ports Authority, Maritime Industry Authority, and the Philippine Coast Guard to explore more potential sea routes across the country.
For now, all eyes are on this exciting new route, one that could reshape how tourists can explore the islands, one cruise-like ferry ride at a time.
