Manila Water Co. Inc., led by billionaire Enrique K. Razon Jr., is allocating P24 billion in capital expenditures for its East Zone concession in 2025 to enhance water security and expand wastewater coverage.
Need For Water
Nearly half of the East Zone’s capital, around P12.5 billion, is dedicated to raw water development and treatment, supporting projects such as East Bay and Wawa. These projects seek to lessen the city’s dependence on the aging Angat Dam.
The company also recently acquired Wawa JVCo to further strengthen long-term operational resilience. Manila Water’s network rehabilitation program has maintained non-revenue water at just 13.55 percent, one of the lowest levels in Asia, showcasing efficient management of leaks and water losses.
Upgrading Wastewater Systems
Manila Water has allocated P2.5 billion to upgrade wastewater systems, focusing on sewer network improvements and interceptor lines to comply with stricter environmental standards.
An additional P4 billion is earmarked for community projects and pipeline extensions, aiming to boost accessibility and reliability for its 7.8 million customers.
