Philippine pride soared to new heights at the World Choir Games 2024 in Auckland, New Zealand, where the Quezon City Performing Arts Development Foundation, Inc. Concert Chorus captured the gold medal in the mixed chamber choirs category.

Achieving an impressive score of 93 points, they displayed exceptional vocal prowess and musical finesse on an international platform, leaving audiences and judges alike in awe.

Not stopping at just one victory, the choir also triumphed in the sacred choral music with accompaniment category, showcasing their versatility and depth in interpreting diverse musical genres. Their performances captivated audiences and judges alike, solidifying their reputation as a formidable force in the global choral community.

Embracing National Pride and Unity

One of the most memorable moments of the competition was when the Quezon City choir proudly performed the Philippine national anthem, Lupang Hinirang, during the awards ceremony. For many members, it was a poignant reminder of their shared heritage and a rare opportunity to represent their country's rich musical tradition on an international stage.

Michael Fabian, a dedicated member of the choir, shared insights into their journey and the challenges they faced in preparation. Despite their busy schedules—many members being students—their commitment to excellence never wavered. Fabian expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Quezon City government and Mayor Joy Belmonte for their steadfast support, which played a crucial role in their success.

Looking ahead, Fabian hopes their achievements will inspire more investments in the performing arts sector across the Philippines. He emphasized the profound impact of music in uniting communities and fostering cultural pride, echoing the sentiment that singing is not just a skill but an integral part of Filipino identity.
