San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan said during his visit to Manila that the Philippines should host the NBA Global Games once more.
“I feel like this would be a perfect spot for, you know, an NBA game one day. We’ll see,” he expressed.
Unbelievable Filipino crowd in Poland
He came to this view after playing for the Polish national team in a practice match against Gilas Pilipinas in preparation for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament last year.
Although Sochan's Poland defeated Gilas Pilipinas by a slim margin of 82-80 in that exhibition match, the San Antonio Spur said the Filipino fans were too ecstatic to ignore.
“You know, we were playing, and all of a sudden, I’m warming up, I’m going onto the court, and, like, half the arena is, you know, from the Philippines,” he said.
“Like, they never stopped. And I think that’s something we need, you know, in general, in basketball,” he added.
Hungry for NBA action
The first NBA Global Games were held in the nation on October 10, 2013, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Filipino throng attended the preseason game to watch the Houston Rockets, who were then led by James Harden and Dwight Howard, defeat the Indiana Pacers, who were led by former star Paul George.
Sochan and his Spurs faced the Indiana Pacers twice in France during the regular season last January.
