With a target theatrical release later this year, TBA Studios has revealed that its biographical historical film "Quezon" will begin production this year.

The film will be directed by Jerrold Tarog, who also co-wrote and directed "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral."

"Quezon" is scheduled to begin filming in March 2025.

Continuation of the “Bayaniverse”

TBA Studios' "Bayaniverse" film series, which is based on Philippine history and includes the box office successes "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral," continues with "Quezon."

The film will be made as a stand-alone, according to TBA Studios president and chief operating officer Daphne Chiu. It will follow the same cinematic continuity as the studio's well-known historical dramas "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral," but it will be made available to viewers who haven't seen the previous films.

The film is anticipated to chronicle the life of Manuel L. Quezon, a Filipino soldier and lawyer who led the Commonwealth of the Philippines as president from 1935 until 1944, emphasizing his turbulent bid to succeed then-President Emilio Aguinaldo.

Surprising casts

Chiu hints that the cast will include names that will shock and thrill both casual viewers and die-hard Bayaniverse fans.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), which announced last year that it would be providing funding for the film, and the Philippine government body National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) are both supporting the film.
