More than a year after their breakup, Richard Gutierrez and his ex-partner Sarah Lahbati are currently undergoing an annulment procedure, the actor disclosed.
In an interview with talent manager Ogie Diaz, the Incognito star broke his silence, leading to this revelation.
Ending a near-five-year marriage
After a seven-year relationship, Gutierrez and Lahbati got married in early 2020 and are now "trying to move forward" apart from each other.
“Siguro yung tungkol sa amin ni Sarah, ayoko na rin pag-usapan. Yung mga nangyaring detalye kasi we’re actually going through an annulment now. Both parties want to move forward. Actually, at this point, naka-move forward na yung both parties,” he said.
Additionally, Gutierrez disclosed that since their breakup in late 2023, they have been co-parenting their kids, Kai and Zion.
Though no explanation was given, Lahbati herself only announced their split in March 2024.
“May equal time kami with our kids. Parang nag cocoparenting kami and ang priority namin is to make sure that the kids live a good life, a happy life. Of course, kung happy siya sa buhay niya at happy ako sa buhay ko, makikita ng mga bata yun. Ang importante sa amin ay ang mga bata,” the actor said.
Wishing his wife well
Richard had nothing but positive things to say about his ex-wife, following a year of marital saga.
“Basta ako ang wish ko lang ay sana maging masaya siya sa lahat ng nangyayari or decision niya kasi ako moving forward, happy din ako. Yun din ang importante samin kasi kapag happy siya, makikita ng kids yun. Maapektuhan yung kids nun,” he said.
Richard wants to put the past behind him and begin the new year with a positive attitude.
“Kung ano man yung dahilan, matagal na panahon na yun. Nakamove on na kami pareho. 2025 na, gusto ko magsimula yung taon na maganda, peaceful, at happy,” he said.
