The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) has commended the municipal government of Dapitan for being the first in the Zamboanga Peninsula region to become compliant with the electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS).
The Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Services Delivery Act of 2018 or Republic Act 11032, established the eBOSS, which can issue electronic copies of permits through its online system and accept electronic business applications using a Unified Application Form.
This allows them to generate electronic tax invoices and accept electronic money as a substitute payment method for barangay clearance fees and safety inspection certificate fees.
Few clicks away
Applicants can access step-by-step instructions leading them through the process on Dapitan City's website by simply clicking a button in the site.
Within a few months, Amalou T. Monroyo, the city administrator, revealed that the city was able to fulfill all seven conditions to be eBOSS certified.
The city has set up a kiosk at city hall to assist locals without technological devices or a reliable internet connection. It offers easy access for everyone, complete with an android tablet and dedicated Wi-Fi network.
Among the pioneers in Mindanao
The achievement, acknowledged by a certificate of honor given to Dapitan Mayor Seth Frederick Jalosjos puts Dapitan first among the cities in Region IX.
It also makes Dapitan the sixth city in Mindanao and the thirty-fifth city in the country to fulfill the eBOSS criteria.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) are among the organizations that helped in the accomplishment.
