The province of Bohol has started a large-scale renewable energy initiative to boost the island's electrical infrastructure. According to Governor Erico Aumentado, the province has taken a significant step to formalize its renewable energy policy.
“Bohol passed the Renewable Energy Code, which provides incentives for renewable energy projects in the province,” Aumentado said.
New solar power project
Part of Bohol’s renewable energy initiative is the Dagohoy Solar Power Project, which is currently underway, and has a projected completion date for the end of the year.
It is anticipated that the Petro Green Energy Corp.-managed solar power facility will produce 27 megawatts (MW) of renewable solar power.
The Ubay Solar Power Plant, which will produce an extra 155 MW of renewable solar power, is the other active renewable energy project.
In the first quarter of 2025, work on the second solar power plant is scheduled to start.
Energy strategy
According to Aumentado, Bohol has taken a distinct approach that is centered on the strategic governance roadmap's ambition for development.
“As we provide the enabling environment, we also support projects on the ground for renewable energy,” he said,
