Negros Oriental businesses that were awarded this year's Bagwis Award winners committed to keeping the rights and welfare of their customers as their top priority.

In a modest event held in a Dumaguete City mall, the DTI-Negros Oriental granted the Bagwis gold, silver, and bronze seals of excellence to 21 commercial entities.

Excellent service as a challenge

Danford Sy, president of New Bian Yek Commercial, issued a challenge to uphold trade and industry rules while continuing to deliver exceptional customer service.

“Without a good consumer welfare program, they would not be coming to our stores,” Sy said after his construction material store New Bian Yek Commercial, a recurrent recipient of Bagwis awards, was awarded a silver seal this year.

Neil A. Albina, the manager of Robinsons Supermarket - Calindagan, stated that the firm works to establish Consumer Welfare Desks at each of its locations and encourages vendors and concessionaires to follow suit.

“We are continuously abiding by all the government regulatory requirements and we ensure that all customers’ complaints are addressed so we can win them back,” he said.

Other winners

Among the six gold recipients of the 2023 Bagwis Awards were Robinsons Supermarket - Calindagan; five more stores received silver seals, and 10 more received bronze seals.

The other gold medalists were Cang's, Inc. and Fast Autoworld Phils. Corp., Robinsons Handyman, Inc., Ogassir Corp., and Robinsons Supermarket Corp.-Perdices.

By posting the Bagwis seal in a prominent area, the store tells customers that it is a DTI-certified business facility that has met with regulatory standards, such as the price tag law and fair-trade laws, and is ISO 9001 compliant, among others.
