The 45th annual Bacolod City MassKara Festival in October will be among the most vibrant events in the nation as they aim for global recognition, according to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.

“This 2024, we are starting to bring in international entertainment. We are creating awareness in the international communities. We hope that tourists who will come are not just local, but international as well,” Benitez said.

Beginning on October 11 with a "salubong" (welcome), the 45th MassKara Festival will be headlined on October 27 with an arena and street dance competition.

World-class tourism event

Benitez wants visitors to be left mesmerized by the event, citing the city’s talents.

“Our street and arena dance competition is world-class. When people see it, they are amazed,” he said.

The Bacolod City Government Center, Bacolod Public Plaza, Lacson Tourism Strip, and Megaworld's The Upper East are the four event locations that have been confirmed.

A total of PHP11 million would be made available by the municipal government to cover festival costs, including assistance for the participating communities.

More events during the festival

Along with the MassKaralympics from October 4 to 25, there will be a cookfest called MassKaNamit from October 15 to 17, and a Miss Bacolod MassKara finals night on October 19.

Additionally, there will be the Lacson MassKara 2024: Kingdom from October 25 to 27, a MassKarade Ball on October 25, and an Electric MassKara on October 26.
