The "Explore and Love the Philippines" picture booth–showcasing the Philippines' beaches and diving locations–was set up by the Philippine Embassy in Beijing, which also serves as the country's ambassador in Mongolia.
The booth was open until December 14, 2024.
Inviting Mongolians in winter
Despite the winter chill, Mongolians were welcomed to visit the Philippines by Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime FlorCruz.
“From your steppes to our shores; from your snow to our sand; come explore and love the Philippines...We invite you to snorkel in Boracay, dive in Palawan, swim with the sardines or watch the whale shark in Cebu,” FlorCruz said during a speech.
Given that Mongolia is a landlocked country in Northeast Asia, FlorCruz pointed out that it is crucial to familiarize Mongolians to Philippine beaches, diving sites, coral reefs, and underwater scenery.
“Our country is the World’s Leading Dive Destination by the 2024 World Travel Awards six years in a row. Aside from this, the World Travel Awards recognized Boracay as the World’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, and Amanpulo as the World’s Leading Dive Resort,” he said.
Providing Mongolians escape from the cold
From November to February, Mongolia has roughly four months of winter. Temperatures can drop as low as -30 degrees.
With the exception of northern regions, there is very little snow, the sky is blue, and it is a dry cold.
The winter monsoon brings cooler air from November to February, whereas March through October are the warmest months of the year. January is the coolest month, and May is typically the warmest.
