With the creation of the CAAM-CAAP Search and Rescue Working Group (ASWG), the Philippines and Malaysia have formally established a major relationship aimed at improving regional safety and cooperation.
The plan was introduced at a meeting on December 4, 2024, at the Pasay City office of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
New partners for search operations
They will create plans and enhance coordination for aeronautical SAR operations in collaboration with the recently joined Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
The collaboration is anticipated to strengthen the two countries' relationship and increase the region's capacity to respond to crises efficiently, according to CAAP.
It went on to say that the agreement demonstrates the Philippines and Malaysia's shared dedication to tackling SAR issues, strengthening regional cooperation, and guaranteeing aviation security and safety throughout their respective regions.
Continuing improvement
The Philippines and Malaysia's shared commitment to tackling SAR issues, strengthening regional cooperation, and guaranteeing aviation safety and security throughout their territories is demonstrated by this partnership.
Last November, the Philippine Civil Aviation Authority collaborated with a Thai company to construct three ultra-high frequency air-ground data link stations in Pampanga, Aklan, and Metro Manila to boost emergency response.
