Pasig City Ends Baguio City's Batang Pinoy Reign

Pasig City has been proclaimed the new overall champion in the official medal count for the 2024 Batang Pinoy National Championships, which were held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Pasig City won 105 golds, 64 silvers, and 116 bronzes to become the new Batang Pinoy overall winner, snapping a four-year winning streak of Baguio City for all youth under the age of 17.

Quezon City finished third with 59 golds, 55 silvers, 53 bronze medals, while former champion Baguio City finished second with 92 gold, 72 silver, and 89 bronze for a total of 253 medals. 

Winning formula

Pasig sent 771 participants to the swimming competition, where they won 11 golds, 9 silvers, and 11 bronzes for a total of 31 medals. 

They also won more golds in 29 other sports to seal the overall title. 

The City of Pasig will receive P5 million as a reward for the overall championship, while Baguio will receive P4 million.

Rounding up

Davao City is fourth with 39 golds, 44 silvers and 37 bronzes while General Santos City is fifth with 36-30-40=106 medals.

Quezon City took home P3 million while P2 million for Davao, andGeneral Santos earned P1 million.
