Music has long brought Filipinos together, connecting generations, communities, and cultures through shared stories and experiences. This July, that enduring bond takes center stage as Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) returns with a month-long celebration of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
Established through Proclamation No. 933 in 2014, the annual celebration continues to champion Filipino artists, songwriters, producers, and the local music industry while inspiring more Filipinos to embrace and support homegrown music.
Celebrating the Filipino Sound
This year's theme, "Pinoy Coded," reflects the unique identity embedded in Filipino music. Blending contemporary influences with cultural heritage, the campaign aims to engage younger audiences while reinforcing the enduring value of OPM.
OPM President Ogie Alcasid said the theme was inspired by current trends while remaining true to the organization's mission.
"The theme this year was a product of being exposed to current trends and trying to engage with a younger core audience. But we still wanted to retain that love for our music and our culture," Alcasid said.
Bringing OPM to More Filipinos
This year's lineup includes the return of OPM Spotlight, a concert series featuring performances in Metro Manila, Baguio, Palawan, and Iloilo. Music fans can also enjoy the LMP2026 Rockwell Series, an all-OPM acoustic showcase at Power Plant Mall in Makati from July 25 to 31.
Aspiring performers will have the opportunity to take the stage during the OPM-ic Open Mic Night, while students and industry professionals can join the LMP2026 Music Talk Series, where experts will discuss music production, royalties, distribution, and emerging industry trends.
A Celebration That Reaches Beyond the Capital
OPM Executive Director Gab Cabangon said expanding the celebration beyond Metro Manila remains a priority to showcase the diversity of Filipino music.
"We're excited to collaborate with productions outside of Metro Manila. It has always been our goal to expand the LMP celebration to different parts of the country," Cabangon said.
Organized by the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit (OPM) in partnership with the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP), Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino 2026 highlights how OPM continues to unite Filipinos—one song at a time.
