FDCP’s I Animate Film Festival Kicks Off This April

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is set to bring animated storytelling to the forefront with the I Animate Animation Film Festival, running from April 24 to May 7, 2025. This nationwide celebration will spotlight the creativity and craftsmanship of animators, featuring a rich lineup of animated films from both local and international creators.

Celebrating Animation and the Artists Behind It

More than just a screening event, I Animate aims to honor the talent and hard work of animation professionals. The festival will host talkback sessions with industry figures, giving audiences the chance to hear insights from animators, directors, and producers behind the films. It’s a unique opportunity for fans and aspiring creators alike to engage with the animation community and learn about the process behind the magic.

A Stellar Lineup of Local and International Films

A wide range of films will be showcased, including award-winning titles and critically acclaimed features. Local gems such as Cinemalaya 2023 Best Film "Iti Mapukpukaw (The Missing)" by Carl Joseph Papa, "Cleaners" by Glenn Barit, and "Saving Sally" by Avid Liongoren will be featured alongside international standouts like "Memoir of a Snail" by Adam Elliot, Oscar 2025 Best Animated Feature "Flow" by Gints Zilbalodis, "Robot Dreams" by Pablo Berger, and "Weathering With You" by Makoto Shinkai. Other notable titles include "Le Petit Nicolas", "Loving Vincent", and "Wolf Children".

The festival will also present a selection of animated works under the Student Shorts Showcase, Animated Short Focus, and From the Archives categories—perfect for discovering fresh voices and timeless classics in animation.

Screenings will be held at select SM Cinemas and Cinematheque Centres nationwide.
