Filipino fans gathered to see BTS's J-hope after electrifying the Manila crowd with his "Hope on the Stage" concert before promising to return to the country.

His HOPE ON THE STAGE tour's Asian leg begins with his performances in Manila. Speaking onstage, J-hope commended the Filipino ARMYs for their love and called the evening priceless.

“Maraming salamat talaga. Sana nag-enjoy kayo ngayong gabi. Siyempre babalik ako,” he told the fans via his interpreter.

J-hope return

J-hope's solo performance, "Hope on the Stage," marked the band's (or at least one of the seven members') much awaited return to the Philippines, where none of the band members have played in eight years.

After J-hope completed his mandatory enlistment in the Korean military in October of last year, the "Hope on the Stage" tour marks his return to the K-pop scene.

The set list featured some of the artist's greatest hits, such as the rock-heavy songs More and Arson, as well as hip-hop songs like On the Street (with J. Cole) and Chicken Noodle Soup (featuring Becky G).

The Korean celebrity's attempts to speak Tagalog thrilled the Filipino Army, as seen by exaggerated expressions like "Tara! (Come on!) and "Astig kayo!"

For the Filipino Army, J-hope's decision to return to Manila on the tour itinerary was a realization of a pledge the band made at their final performance in the Philippines in May 2017 when they declared they would return to Manila.

In addition to RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, J-hope, whose true name is Jung Ho-Seok, is a member of the worldwide phenomenon BTS.
