The Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH) has earned recognition as one of the Philippines’ top hospitals, according to the New York City–based weekly news magazine Newsweek, Mayor Joy Belmonte announced Monday.
Ranked 24th nationwide, QCGH stands out as the only Level 3 local government unit (LGU) hospital included in the Top 33, featuring 10 fully accredited departments and a fellowship training program, Belmonte highlighted.

Specialized Care and Training Programs
QCGH, a 250-bed tertiary hospital in Barangay Bahay Toro established in 1968, currently offers 10 fully accredited training programs, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Pathology, Radiology, Otolaryngology, and Ophthalmology, ensuring standardized and safe care.
The hospital is the first LGU-run facility in the Philippines to provide a fellowship training program in geriatric medicine, reflecting its dedication to senior citizens. It is also the first in North Metro Manila to offer fellowship training in ultrasound and CT-MRI under its Radiology Department.
“This is a testament to our commitment to providing our residents with quality health care services. We continue to improve our facilities and upgrade our services to address health concerns effectively and to ensure that QCitizens receive the exceptional medical care they deserve,” Belmonte expressed.
The ranking, carried out in partnership with global data-as-a-service company Statista, reviewed 2,500 hospitals across 32 countries. Evaluations were based on expert recommendations from doctors, hospital managers, and other healthcare professionals, as well as hospital quality metrics, patient experience data, and Statista’s Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Implementation Survey.
In 2025, QCGH received its first unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit, underscoring strong fiscal management and ethical governance. In addition, its Human Milk Bank and the Quezon City Protection Center were recognized by the Philippine Commission on Women as Gender and Development Local Learning Hubs for innovations in advancing women’s rights and combating discrimination.
Moving Forward: Expanding Quality Health Services
QCGH Medical Director Dr. Josephine Sabando said the recognition motivates the hospital team to continue enhancing their programs and medical services. The Quezon City government is currently expanding and renovating the hospital facilities to better serve patients, ensuring high-quality care reaches more QC residents.
This achievement not only positions QCGH among the country’s best hospitals but also reinforces public trust in LGU-run healthcare facilities, offering Filipinos more accessible, specialized, and high-standard medical care closer to home.
