The province of Abra is home to Kaparkan Falls–also called Mulawin Falls–perhaps one of the most photogenic falls in the country.

Few waterfalls in the country could compete with the Kaparkan Falls. In fact, a lot of travelers have invested money, time, and itinerary points just to see it. It holds the distinction of being the most recognized tourist destination in Abra.

Although the Kaparkan Falls has been known to the locals for years, it wasn't until August 2015 that a foreigner found it. Since then, it has become the talk of the town and an official tourist destination.

Natural marvel

Beyond just a pretty face of water, Kaparkan Falls is a geological wonder that uses its stacked terraces to tell the tale of time.

Reminiscent of the more well-known Banaue Rice Terraces, the falls feature a sequence of naturally formed limestone terraces. These terraces, which have been sculpted over the ages, showcasing the complex interaction between water and rock.

Each terrace is cascaded by the glistening waters, which create a symphony of light and shadow across the limestone surfaces. The pools range in size and depth, allowing guests to swim or wade in the cool waters.

A massive Balete tree inside Kaparkan Falls provides a backdrop of the surroundings, drawing many local tourists to enjoy their experience and take pictures in the cool falls' water.

A deep, blue pool resembles a basin beneath the falls that guests can dive into. The water from Kaparkan Falls flows into the Tineg River.

Tucked away

Located at Sitio Kaparkan, Barangay Caganayan, Tineg, Kaparkan Falls' appeal is enhanced by its remote location in Abra's highlands.

The journey to the falls is an adventure in itself, taking visitors through dense landscapes, rugged terrains, and the rustic charm of rural communities.

Kaparkan Falls' remoteness provides it with an untouched and pristine quality, allowing tourists to have a true experience with nature. It blends geological creativity and natural legacy as it reveals its tapestry of cascading streams and terraced pools. This gem invites adventurers to soak up nature's beauty.
