Artists Celebrate Manila’s Past And Present In “Sining Manileño”

Artists, cultural advocates, and art enthusiasts gathered for the opening of “Sining Manileño,” an exhibition that highlights both the rich history and the evolving identity of the Philippine capital.

Hosted by the City of Manila through its Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila, the exhibit is mounted at the Manila Clock Tower Museum. The showcase brings together works that reflect the depth of Manila’s heritage while presenting fresh, contemporary perspectives from today’s Manileño artists.

Art Reflecting History and Modern Life

The gallery space was transformed into a vibrant platform for storytelling. Through various forms and styles, the artworks explore themes of resilience, identity, and pride—hallmarks of Manila’s enduring spirit.

Each piece captures a different chapter of the city’s journey, from its storied past to the realities of modern urban life. Together, the collection paints a compelling portrait of a capital that continues to redefine itself while honoring its roots.

Continuing Support for the Arts

The opening was graced by Councilor Lou Veloso, signaling the city government’s sustained commitment to programs that uplift local artists and strengthen Manila’s cultural landscape.

Organizers said “Sining Manileño” is not only a platform for artistic expression but also a call to deepen appreciation for the city’s heritage and creative community.

The exhibit runs until March 26, 2026, inviting the public to experience Manila’s artistic spirit and celebrate the stories that define the Manileño identity.
