There are times when the hustle and bustle of Kapitolyo becomes too much. Coming to Alongside Coffee breaks that rhythm: softening the noise, slowing the pace, and offering a quiet corner where you can simply eat, drink, and breathe.
Built Alongside A Partnership
Alongside Coffee opened its doors in June 2025 in-between a row of houses and utility shops in San Roque Street. According to Ayah, one of the two owners, she and her partner named the cafe as such to honor their love story.
Alongside Coffee was built to be one's gentle companion on a busy day.
“Aside from ‘alongside the street,’ we built this alongside each other,” she added.
And here’s a fun fact: they used to go by MAD Coffee during the pandemic, selling drinks from their humble condo unit before moving out. How’s that for a rebrand?
Tiny But Mighty
The cafe is only 10 square meters, but don’t let its size fool you! With outdoor seating and bike-friendly spots, it easily welcomes both guests who want to stay awhile and those just grabbing coffee on the go. It’s pet-friendly, too, making it a relaxing stop for those bringing their furry friend.
You may purchase a treat or two for your pet inside.
If you stay inside, you’ll feel instantly cozy with its minimalist interior. Warm wooden accents and a large mirror brighten the space, giving it an open yet intimate charm. And speaking of intimate, Alongside’s hosted small gatherings in the past. From pop-ups to bridal showers, it shows that meaningful moments don’t need a massive venue.
What’s for Dessert?
Alongside carries a wide variety of drinks, from signature sips like the Honey Oat Latte to non-espresso blends a la the Strawberry Matcha. If you’re hungry, you may pair these with a sweet Pan au Chocolat or a savory Truffle Cheese Puff.
But the stars of the show are their homemade Tiramisu and Tres Leches tubs. Usually sold in small batches, each tin is rich, creamy, and carefully layered to deliver a treat worth sharing (or savoring all to yourself).

Ayah once said they attract patrons to the cafe via word-of-mouth, and it’s easy to see why. Alongside Coffee welcomes anyone passing by to slow down, savor the moment, and feel at home in the heart of Kapitolyo. Whether it’s a quick coffee run or a pet playdate, every visit feels like a gentle pause in the city’s rhythm.
