Excitement is building in Carmona City, Cavite, as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in Calabarzon prepares to unveil its latest innovation: the 21st Century Learning Environment Model (21st CLEM). This forward-thinking initiative will introduce a groundbreaking school-based classroom at Angelo L. Loyola Senior High School (ALLSHS), making it the first of its kind in Cavite and the 28th nationwide. Designed to meet the evolving demands of modern education, the 21st CLEM aims to create a dynamic and immersive learning environment that sets a new standard for classrooms.

Innovative Features for a Modern Classroom

Josephine Feliciano, the visionary behind the project from the DOST-Science Education Institute, shared her enthusiasm about the 21st CLEM's innovative features. The classroom will be a showcase of cutting-edge technology, including robotics equipment, 3D modeling and printing tools, and virtual and augmented reality systems. To complement these high-tech tools, the space will be furnished with customizable desks and ergonomic chairs that enhance mobility and adaptability. Feliciano highlighted that this environment is designed to foster collaboration and leverage immersive technologies, bridging the gap between educators and students in an engaging and interactive way.

Investment in the Future of Education

The 21st CLEM project represents a significant investment in the future of education, with a total cost estimated between PHP2 million to PHP3 million. The local government unit (LGU) of Carmona City will generously cover 70 to 80 percent of this cost, with the remaining funds provided by DOST. The official turnover of the 21st CLEM is set for October 14, aligning with the opening ceremonies of the DOST-Calabarzon’s Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week. This milestone event will not only celebrate the new classroom but also underscore the commitment to advancing educational practices and preparing students for a technology-driven world.
