Pasay City has announced the creation of their vision Eco City, a project boosted by the private sector. The Pasay City Eco City is a key component of Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano's plan to make the city a more environmentally friendly and competitive global city.
“I am determined to ensure that our Grand Vision for Pasay becomes a reality. The first ECO City in the Philippines! An EcoCity that is both ecologically and economically dynamic–this is part of the master plan designed to improve services, revenues, and overall well-being of our residents,” said Calixto-Rubiano.
Private partners collaboration
According to Rubiano, the local government and its private partners worked with internationally renowned expert contractors like Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. and world-class urban master planning experts Arup and Aecom to ensure the development of Pasay Eco City.
By employing smart city technology to make Pasay more sustainable, the Eco City hopes to promote employment and pave the path for future job opportunities that will boost revenue and enhance public services for the city.
“We have always been forward thinkers, with foresight that is truly enhanced by a vision of smart sustainability, especially as we reimagine tomorrow's enterprise,” the mayor said.
Ensuring ecological public spaces
The creation of environmentally friendly public areas is given top priority by the project in each of its seven planned districts so far, which are Central Park, North Dock, South Shore, West Wharf, Gateway, Channel East, and Channel West.
The districts will function as an entrance for guests arriving by water as well as a place for the general people to gather, unwind, and take in the sunset over Manila Bay.
A Central Park, akin to those in other cities of Singapore, will be a feature of the project, allowing people to mingle with nature and take a little break from city life.
