The Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) has intensified operations under the Ligtas Paskuhan 2025 initiative to ensure safe and peaceful celebrations this Christmas and New Year. Following directives from PNP Acting Chief Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., PRO7 has increased patrols, checkpoints, and police visibility across transport terminals, airports, seaports, commercial centers, and major highways in Central Visayas.

Regional Director PBGEN Redrico A. Maranan emphasized that police personnel are being deployed aggressively but responsibly to ensure that every family in Central Visayas can celebrate the holidays in peace and security. Unit commanders have been instructed to strengthen police presence in churches, public markets, and other convergence points, with increased foot and mobile patrols and strategic chokepoints to prevent theft, robbery, traffic-related incidents, and other seasonal crimes.

Police Assistance Desks Set Up for Travelers

With the expected influx of travelers and returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), PRO7 has established police assistance desks at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, seaports, and key bus terminals. These desks are prepared to assist with crowd control, lost-and-found cases, and emergency situations.

As part of holiday safety preparations, PRO7 is also enforcing firecracker regulations strictly and coordinating with local government units to ensure the safe use of pyrotechnics during the festive season.

Cebu City Police Prepares for Sinulog 2026

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has intensified security preparations not only for Christmas but also for the Sinulog Festival 2026, one of the country’s grandest celebrations. Police personnel will be deployed across more than 30 churches in Cebu City, reinforced by force multipliers to safeguard churchgoers, devotees, and tourists.

CCPO Officer-in-Charge PCOL George V. Ylanan highlighted that volunteers and force multipliers play a critical role in supporting the police force, significantly boosting their capacity to ensure public safety during major events. With millions of local and international visitors expected for Sinulog 2026, the CCPO is coordinating closely with PRO7 to maintain full operational readiness.

Public Cooperation Crucial for a Safe Holiday Season

PRO7 and CCPO remind the public that safety is a shared responsibility. Reporting suspicious activities and following safety regulations are essential to a peaceful holiday season.

With Ligtas Paskuhan 2025 in full effect, law enforcement agencies remain committed to safeguarding lives, properties, and public peace throughout Central Visayas during Christmas, the New Year, and upcoming major events.
