Coral Expeditions, a trailblazing Australian cruise line, will make a return visit to Biliran province this year through Coral Geographer, the provincial administration said. As the newest cruise destination in Eastern Visayas, the cruise ship will stop at three important locations on the island.

On October 31 and November 4, respectively, the ship will transport about 120 tourists to Higatangan Island near Naval town and the charming islands of Maripipi and Sambawan, which are renowned for their rich marine life and stunning scenery.

Making the most of the island

According to the province's tourism department, visitors will have the opportunity to partake in a variety of activities during their stay, such as swimming, snorkeling, and tasting regional cuisine.

Additionally, each stop will display each municipality's distinctive ways of life and cultural customs, giving visitors an insight into the province's thriving local communities.

On its website, Coral Expeditions referred to Maripipi, Biliran, as the "Isle of Gems" due to its white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters.

Thriving cruise tourism industry

Through the German business Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' MS Europa, Eastern Visayas has been a part of the cruise tourism industry since 2013.

Coral Geographer will also stop in Cuatro Islas in the southern section of Leyte province, Biri Island, and Lalaguna Mangrove Eco-Park in Northern Samar, in addition to Biliran.

“The province's inclusion in Coral Expeditions' itinerary underscores its growing reputation as a must-visit spot in the region, and we look forward to welcoming more visitors to explore our province and experience the warmth and hospitality of the people of Biliran,” the local tourism office said.
