The provincial government of Guimaras is ramping up preparations for this year’s Manggahan Festival by allocating a record 18 metric tons of mangoes for its crowd-favorite “Mango Eat-All-You-Can” event.
The increase, which is five metric tons higher than last year’s supply, comes as officials anticipate a surge in both local and international visitors heading to Western Visayas for the annual celebration.
Provincial Agriculturist Arvin Nava said the expansion reflects the growing demand for the activity, which continues to draw large crowds each year.
Expanded Sessions to Serve More Guests
A highlight of the festival, the Mango Eat-All-You-Can event offers visitors unlimited servings of Guimaras mangoes for 30 minutes at a registration fee of P100.
To better accommodate the expected influx, organizers have increased the number of daily sessions. Eight batches are scheduled from Monday to Thursday, while Fridays to Sundays will feature 11 batches, including extended evening runs to cater to peak demand.
Nava explained that the added slots are intended to improve crowd flow, serve more participants, and reduce long waiting times. Festivalgoers are also encouraged to book their slots in advance through the official online reservation system, particularly for weekends when demand is highest.
Showcasing Mangoes, Supporting Farmers
Governor Lucille Nava emphasized that the event goes beyond being a festival attraction, serving as a platform to promote Guimaras’ globally recognized mango industry and honor local farmers.
She noted that the initiative is part of the province’s continued push to strengthen agri-tourism while highlighting the quality of Guimaras produce to a wider audience.
The Manggahan Festival 2026 runs until May 24, featuring a lineup of cultural performances, trade fairs, agricultural exhibits, concerts, and tourism activities that showcase the province’s heritage, local products, and livelihood opportunities.
