28th Panaad Festival Highlights Negros’ Agri Products

From April 15 to 21, the 28th Panaad Sa Negros Festival features the finest agricultural techniques and products from the province of Negros Occidental.

Within the festival site at Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson oversaw the opening of the Food Security Fair and Exhibit as well as the Livestock and Dairy Fair.

Among the topics covered in the Food Security Fair and Exhibit are the services provided by partner agencies, agri-fishery technology, farmers' information and technology services (FITS), and the bamboo village.

Showcasing agri products for food security

The Agri-Fishery Technology Clinic provides one-on-one consultations and discussions between experts and farmer clients, while the Food Security Corner highlights the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist's (OPA) initiatives and services aimed at guaranteeing food security in the province.

On the other hand, the Organic Trading Post (OTP) and Kadiwa ng Pangulo feature a variety of farm food and agricultural items at the trade expo.

The FITS Corner offers pertinent and up-to-date information and technology services related to agriculture and fisheries.

The Department of Agriculture, the Department of Agrarian Reform, the Philippine Rice Research Institute, the National Food Authority, the Philippine Coconut Authority, the National Irrigation Administration, and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources are among the organizations that spearheaded the exhibit.

Display of dairy and bamboo

The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) also hosted the Livestock and Poultry Raisers Day at the Livestock and Dairy Fair.

Seminars on swine production and management, gamefowl management and breeding techniques, and the status and updates of avian influenza were among the activities.

Meanwhile, the province's infrastructure and technologies for producing bamboo are on display at the Panaad Bamboo Village.

Ruminants' Day is on April 16 and is celebrated by goat, carabao, and cattle raisers; Poultry Raisers' Day is on Wednesday, April 17, Meat Processors and Post Harvest Day is on Thursday, April 18, Hog Raisers' Day is on Friday, April 19, and Pets and Companion Animal Raisers' Day is on Saturday, April 20, rounding up the festivities.
