Celebrate The Holidays With Filipino Films At MMFF 2025 — MTRCB

This Christmas, Filipino movie lovers are invited to enjoy the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025, showcasing eight new local films that promise a mix of family-friendly stories and creative storytelling. The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) is urging the public to support these entries, emphasizing the role of Philippine cinema in celebrating local talent and culture.

MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto encouraged families and moviegoers to use film classification ratings as a guide for age-appropriate viewing. “This Christmas, I am inviting everyone to take time and watch the movies that are part of the 2025 MMFF,” Sotto said in a video message released on Christmas Day.

She highlighted that most films this year received G (General Audience) and PG (Parental Guidance) ratings, making them suitable for children under parental supervision.

The eight MMFF 2025 entries include:

  • “I’m Perfect” – Rated G, suitable for all ages
  • “Bar Boys: After School” – Rated PG, for viewers aged 13 and under with parental guidance
  • “Call Me Mother” – Rated PG
  • “Love You So Bad” – Rated PG
  • “Manila’s Finest” – Rated PG
  • “Rekonek” – Rated PG
  • “Unmarry” – Rated PG
  • “Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins” – Rated R-13, for viewers 13 and older

Sotto emphasized that the festival reflects a “new era for Philippine cinema”, encouraging audiences to engage with diverse narratives that showcase Filipino creativity and storytelling. She also reminded parents to consider the ratings when selecting films, ensuring a wholesome and safe movie experience for younger viewers.

The MMFF 2025 “Gabi ng Parangal” (Awards Night) is scheduled for December 27, where the top entries will be recognized for excellence in filmmaking.

Watching Filipino films during the holidays not only entertains but also supports the local film industry, helping nurture the next generation of filmmakers and actors. It’s an opportunity to enjoy meaningful stories that reflect the nation’s culture, values, and creativity, while celebrating the spirit of Christmas through cinema.
