In keeping with the two countries' collaborative efforts to improve disaster response capabilities, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) began the "Doshin-Bayanihan 2024" exercises centered on humanitarian aid and disaster response (HADR) in Cebu.
The training drills are part of the recently negotiated military pact between Japan and the Philippines.
Signed in July of this year, the agreement permits the deployment of forces on the territory of both nations.
Growing bilateral relationship
The countries will participate in aeromedical evacuation exercises, load/offload training, subject matter expert exchanges, and simulated airdrop flight training.
“Doshin-Bayanihan is a testament to the growing bilateral relationship between the Philippines and Japan,” a statement read.
For the exercises, a C-130 cargo aircraft will be used by both the JASDF and PAF units.
Exchange of valuable knowledge
Col. Reynaldo Jose Montoya, the exercise director, urged PAF and JASDF members to take advantage of this chance to share important expertise, abilities, and cultural understandings.
The skills and friendship between the two air forces will be greatly improved by these exchanges, he added.
