Bell-Kenz Pharma is exploring a more inclusive approach to emergency preparedness as it joins the National Working Committee for the 2026 Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week and works with the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) on proposed disability-inclusive Hands-Only CPR training.

The proposal comes as Bell-Kenz joins the National Working Committee preparing for the 2026 Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week, observed nationwide every September 16 to 22. The annual observance seeks to promote greater understanding of cerebral palsy while encouraging early detection, timely intervention, inclusion, and support for persons with the condition.

Taking Sagip CPR Into Disability Inclusion

While Sagip CPR traditionally focuses on Hands-Only CPR training, the proposed initiative seeks to explore how the training can be adapted to better accommodate PWDs and the people who support them.

The effort will consider the role of caregivers, family members, and other individuals who provide daily assistance to persons with disabilities. By extending CPR knowledge to these support networks, the initiative aims to encourage greater preparedness within homes and communities.

Bell-Kenz Corporate Branding and Public Affairs Head Patrick Larraga said the proposed partnership reflects the need to ensure that emergency preparedness opportunities are accessible to different sectors of society.

"Emergency preparedness should be inclusive, and persons with disabilities should be given opportunities to learn and participate in life-saving initiatives such as CPR training," Larraga said.

The proposed collaboration could involve adjusting CPR training methods and educational materials according to participants' needs. Bell-Kenz and the NCDA may also work with disability organizations and relevant specialists to identify approaches that encourage PWDs to actively take part in emergency preparedness.

Partnership Builds on Cerebral Palsy Week Efforts

Bell-Kenz's involvement in the 2026 Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week follows a July 28 coordination and courtesy meeting between Public Affairs Manager Anna Leah Poteet Morales and NCDA officials, including Information, Education, and Communication Chief Jayme J. Mario, Information Officer I Jem Aguilar, and Project Evaluation Assistant Nanie Umali-Apostol.

The company will participate in the National Working Committee led by the NCDA, alongside representatives from government agencies, local government units, medical and rehabilitation organizations, disability advocacy groups, civil society, and the private sector.

The committee is tasked with helping shape activities for the annual observance based on the concerns and needs of persons with cerebral palsy and the wider disability community.

For Bell-Kenz, the collaboration provides an opportunity to connect its existing Sagip CPR campaign with a broader conversation on accessibility and inclusion in health education.

The company has been working to expand awareness of CPR and emergency preparedness among Filipino communities. Through its participation in the committee and its proposed partnership with the NCDA, Bell-Kenz aims to explore how potentially life-saving knowledge can reach more people, including those who have traditionally faced barriers to accessing health and emergency-response education.
