Filipinos dreaming of visiting the majestic Taj Mahal, experiencing the colorful Holi Festival, exploring the bustling markets of Delhi or savoring authentic Indian cuisine now have one more reason to pack their bags as India is offering free e-visas to Filipino tourists!
The exciting announcement was made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who is currently on a five-day state visit to New Delhi. This move is part of both countries’ efforts to strengthen people-to-people connections and make travel easier and more rewarding for their citizens.
Adding to the excitement, direct flights between India and the Philippines are set to resume by October 2025, making India’s rich culture, history, and spirituality more accessible than ever.
A Two-Way Welcome: Stronger Ties, Simpler Travel
This gesture from India follows the Philippines’ own visa-free entry policy for Indian nationals, which began in June 2025. It marks a significant milestone in the fast-growing friendship between the two nations.
President Marcos expressed his appreciation, saying, “I thank Prime Minister Modi in turn for the introduction of a scheme to grant visa free of charge to Filipino tourists traveling to India.”
He also invited Indian travelers to explore the tropical beauty and hospitality of the Philippines.
The mutual visa-friendly policies are expected to supercharge tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Beyond Borders: A Shared Vision for the Indo-Pacific
Aside from tourism, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and maritime security. They recognized their countries’ shared interests in the Indo-Pacific, highlighting past cooperation such as India’s swift action in rescuing Filipino seafarers attacked by Houthi rebels in early 2024.
“We recognize India’s influence as a first responder in this critical area. Both our nations have high stakes in the future of the Indo-Pacific and in the world,” Marcos said.
With easier travel, deeper ties, and a shared vision for peace, the future of Philippines–India relations is looking brighter and more exciting than ever.
