The achievement comes after Eala claimed the first WTA Tour title of her career, making history as the first Filipina to reach the Top 20 in the Open Era. It is another major breakthrough for Philippine tennis and a testament to her steady rise on the international stage.

Eala's journey to the championship was far from easy. Playing in the Washington tournament for the first time, she faced some of the biggest stars in women's tennis and proved she belonged among the world's best.
She began her campaign by defeating Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen before ending defending champion Leylah Fernandez's title defense. Facing American World No. 3 Jessica Pegula, Eala dropped the opening set but bounced back in dominant fashion to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 and capture the biggest title of her career.
"At the beginning of the week, there's no way I would have thought that I would be holding this trophy," Eala said after the match.
"Winning a WTA 500 is insane. It's an incredible milestone for me."
