Good news for every Filipino as PhilHealth’s YAKAP ng Pamahalaan program is now open for registration, offering free consultations, laboratory tests, and medicines worth up to P20,000 per year.
YAKAP (short for Yaman ng Kalusugan ng Pamahalaan) is a rebranded and improved version of the Konsulta Program. It aims to make primary health care accessible, preventive, and truly universal—even for those without existing insurance coverage.
"Through YAKAP, we want Filipinos to see a doctor not just when they’re sick, but as a regular part of staying healthy," said PhilHealth executive Israel Francis Pargas.
How to Register and Avail of Free Services
Getting started is easy. To avail of YAKAP services, you need a PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN). You can register:
- * Online via the PhilHealth Member Portal
- * Through the eGovPH app
- * Or by visiting any PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office
Once you have your PIN, register at your chosen YAKAP-accredited clinic for a checkup. During the consultation, your doctor may recommend lab tests, which can be done either at the clinic or a partner diagnostic center.
If medication is prescribed, the doctor will issue an e-prescription through the GAMOT app. Present this to any accredited pharmacy (look for signage), and you’ll receive a GAMOT Availment Slip—no out-of-pocket cost needed.
Each registered member can receive up to P20,000 worth of medicines every year, and you'll be informed of your remaining balance after every availment.
Bigger Benefits Coming Soon
Currently, YAKAP covers 13 laboratory tests and 21 essential medicines, but that's just the beginning. PhilHealth announced plans to expand the program, including:
- * Free cancer screening tests
- * An additional 54 medicines to be included in the free coverage
- * This expansion ensures that more Filipinos can manage their health early—before conditions worsen.
YAKAP isn’t just a name, it’s a commitment. One that puts people’s health first, with services that are free, accessible, and centered on prevention.
