Starting June 1, 2025, families and groups of four can ride the MRT-3, LRT-2, and LRT-1 every Sunday by paying for just one passenger. This new Family/Pamilya Pass 1+3 program is designed to make public transportation more affordable and encourage families and friends to spend quality time together on Sundays.

The initiative allows a group of four people traveling together on the same trip to use a single paid ticket. Only one member of the group needs to pass through the turnstile, while the others can enter through a side entrance, making the commute easier and more cost-efficient.

Sundays Dedicated to Family Time

Sundays have long been recognized as a special day for Filipino families, often reserved for bonding activities, church visits, or simple outings. The Family/Pamilya Pass 1+3 program aims to support this tradition by removing transportation barriers that might prevent families and friends from spending the day together.

By offering a “pay for one, ride for four” deal, the program helps ensure that more Filipinos can enjoy their Sundays without worrying about additional travel expenses, reinforcing the importance of quality time and shared experiences.

How the Program Works and Ridership Insights

This offer is available not only to families but also to groups of four friends traveling together. According to recent data from DOTr, weekend ridership on the MRT-3 averages around 226,000 passengers, while the LRT-2 carries about 95,000 riders every Sunday. The new program is expected to make public transit more appealing and accessible for weekend travelers across Metro Manila.
