Most Filipinos plan to travel locally in 2025, signaling strong momentum for domestic tourism, according to Klook’s 2025 Travel Pulse report. The study revealed that 98.5% of Filipinos intend to explore destinations within the country, while 56.3% are also considering international trips.

Popular local spots include Manila, Tagaytay, Boracay, and Siargao, but interest is also growing in lesser-known destinations. Michelle Ho, Klook’s General Manager for the Philippines and Thailand, said this trend shows Filipinos are becoming more intentional with their spending. “Travel remains resilient. People are picking destinations and experiences that suit their budget and lifestyle,” she noted during a press briefing in Makati.

Experiences and Wellness Take Priority

Travelers are looking for more than just sightseeing. The study shows that 63% of respondents seek experiences such as adventure tours, wellness retreats, and digital detox getaways. Hidden gem trips appeal to 57%, while 54% enjoy workshops and new skills-based activities.

Klook also reported a 94% increase in local tourism product sales and a 93% rise in hotel and activity bookings in 2024, highlighting a shift toward more experience-driven and frequent travel.

Planning ahead is a clear trend, with over 35% of travelers booking flights and accommodations one to three months in advance. The top factors influencing travel decisions include weather (37.3%), timing around school and work breaks (29.9%), and affordability (15.3%).

Travel as a Mental Health Reset

Travel has become a form of therapy for many. All respondents agreed that travel helps manage stress, with 78.4% using it as a mental health break. Millennials and Gen Zs, in particular, see it as a way to reset. About 31.6% choose nature retreats for creativity and emotional balance—double the regional average.

As Filipino travelers continue to seek meaningful, restorative experiences, both locally and abroad, the outlook for 2025 tourism appears not only strong but also deeply personal.
