“Homecoming,” Alas wrote as the caption for a graphic of him wearing an Ateneo jersey, which also read, “Kieffer Alas commits to Ateneo de Manila.”

Alas has consistently showcased his talent on the international stage. At the FIBA U-16 Asian Championships in 2023, he averaged 15.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, helping the Gilas Boys secure a berth in the U17 World Cup.

During his Grade 11 season with De La Salle Zobel, Alas earned the UAAP Season 87 Boys basketball MVP award, posting 20.07 points, 11.14 rebounds, and 4.93 assists per game. Following his UAAP high school career, he spent a year at the Utah Prep Academy in the United States to further hone his skills. While he received offers from US NCAA Division 2 schools, Alas ultimately opted to return home and join Ateneo.

Playing Alongside Family and Legacy

His move also allows him to play alongside his father, Louie Alas, who serves as an assistant coach to head coach Tab Baldwin. Kieffer is the younger brother of Kevin Alas, guard for the PBA and NLEX Road Warriors.

Alas confirmed in his Instagram post that he will be eligible to play starting UAAP Season 89 and has a full five years of collegiate eligibility.
