Six Filipino students received several awards at the 6th Copernicus International Natural Science Olympiad, held in Texas, United States, from January 5 to 10.
Since every competitor on Team Philippines took home a medal, the Philippines ranked in the top three nations with the most medals.
Biggest winners
Ten-year-old John Hermes Mariñas of Oriental Mindoro's Maria Loreto Integrated School, Inc. won the gold in Natural Science (Category 2).
Gold in Natural Science (Category 4) was also earned by 16-year-old Rjian Felminia Acevedo of the Philippine Science High School -Zamboanga Peninsula Region Campus (PSHS-ZPRC) in Zamboanga del Norte.
Richmarth Duke Bad-ang, a 17-year-old student at the University of Immaculate Conception in Davao City, took home a bronze medal in Natural Science (Category 5).
In the same division, 17-year-old Iwen Manaba of the National Capital Region's School of Saint Anthony bagged the silver.
In Natural Science (Category 4), 14-year-old Jaymee Kristen Concha of PSHS-ZPRC brought home the bronze. In Physics and Astronomy (Category 3), 18-year-old Marquis Xavier Zamuco of Baguio City's Saint Louis University Laboratory Senior High School won the bronze medal.
