P-pop acts BINI and SB19 are making their bid for the global music stage, launching “For Your Consideration” campaigns for the 69th Grammy Awards as the Recording Academy’s first-round voting runs until October 22.
BINI, SB19 Enter New Asian Pop Category
Both groups are submitting entries for the new Asian Pop Music Performance category, one of five categories introduced for the 2027 awards. BINI is campaigning for “Unang Kilig,” while SB19 is submitting “Visa.”
The category drew criticism from some industry figures who argued that creating a separate category for Asian pop could limit the recognition of Asian artists in the Grammys’ main categories. The Academy proceeded with the category following weeks of deliberation.
SB19, BINI Seek Recognition in Other Categories
SB19 is also submitting “Lawless” for Pop Duo/Group Performance, a competitive category expected to feature entries involving Madonna, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Doechii, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and KATSEYE.
BINI is pursuing additional categories, submitting “A Parallel World,” from the “Forgotten Island” soundtrack, for Best Song Written for Visual Media. The group is also seeking consideration for Best New Artist, alongside other eligible acts such as Ella Langley, Sienna Spiro, Don Toliver, and Suki Waterhouse.
Grammy Campaigns Mark Milestone for P-pop
Eligible recordings for the 2027 Grammys were released between August 31, 2025, and August 28, 2026. During the first-round voting period, eligible Recording Academy voting members review submissions and select the nominees.
A “For Your Consideration” campaign does not guarantee a nomination. Thousands of entries are submitted each year, but only a limited number advance to the final ballot.
For BINI and SB19, however, campaigning across multiple Grammy categories highlights the growing international ambitions of Filipino pop acts that have built substantial audiences at home and performed overseas.
