P-pop powerhouse SB19 reached a new milestone as the lyric video of their hit song “Mapa'' exceeded 100 million views. On Tuesday, July 9, the group took to Instagram to celebrate, expressing gratitude to their fans, known as A’TIN.
“Mapa”is more than just a song; it’s an instrument of honor for the most important people in our lives,” the group said, highlighting the song's emotional resonance.
Honoring Parents and Parental Figures
The Instagram post featured clips of people celebrating significant milestones with their parents, such as graduations, career achievements, and passing the bar.
“Today, we realized that ‘Mapa’ isn’t just a song. It’s a movement to honor our parents and parental figures,” the video text read. SB19’s leader, Pablo, expressed his joy, noting, “Nakakatuwa rin naman kasi ‘yung ‘Mapa’ ay para sa mga magulang. Hindi siya basta-basta (It makes us happy because ‘Mapa’ is for our parents. It’s not just any song).”
Creating the Lyric Video
Jonathan Tal Placido, the lyric video’s director, shared insights into its creation on Instagram.
“Noong 2021 tinanong ako ni Kath kung marunong ako mag motion graphics… ang sagot ko? ‘Yups Whyez,’”he wrote. “Sino mag aakala yun pala ang 1st project ko with @officialsb19… happy 100 [million], ‘Mapa!’ Congrats A’tin!” (Back in 2021, Kath asked me if I knew how to do motion graphics. My answer? “Yup, why?” Who knew that would be my first project with SB19? Happy 100 million, “Mapa!” Congrats, A’TIN!)
The video, a collaborative effort, has now become a landmark achievement in SB19’s career.
Included in SB19’s first EP “Pagsibol,” “Mapa” continues to touch hearts and inspire fans, marking another significant milestone for the talented group.
