Leading fiber cement maker Shera, with headquarters in Thailand, has declared that it will invest PHP2 billion to build its first plant outside of Thailand in the Philippines.
The PHP2-billion construction project, according to Shera country head Thunnop Jumpasri, will be situated on a two-hectare plot of land in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
With the potential to double its capacity in the upcoming years, the new plant's initial capacity of 100,000 metric tons annually will require 120 to 150 personnel upon its debut.
Shera’s footprints in the country
Shera's sales in the Philippines were PHP1.5 billion last year, and a 10 to 15 percent growth is anticipated with this project.
The plant's installation started in 2023, and the business hopes to finish it this year. Additionally, Shera intends to take advantage of economic prospects in the Philippines, namely in relation to government infrastructure initiatives and private construction projects.
Shera hopes to introduce its environment-friendly and sustainable construction products to the country with the opening of this plant, particularly for homes, buildings, and organizations looking to incorporate green solutions into their projects.
Tapping the country’s demand
Now, with a 1 million MT capacity, Shera is Thailand's top producer of fiber cement boards. This Philippine endeavor is viewed as a component of a larger Asian expansion.
Given that the construction business in the Philippines is one of the fastest-growing in Southeast Asia, Shera said it is logical for them to establish their first operations outside of Thailand in the country.
SHERA manufactures fiber cement boards that are used to construct walls, floors, and ceilings.
