Davao Revives Kape ug Tsokolate Crawl, Opens More Stops For Coffee And Chocolate Lovers

Davao City is bringing back its much-loved Duaw Davao Kape ug Tsokolate Crawl this June, this time with a wider lineup of participating cafés and chocolate shops across the city.

The Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) said the expanded run aims to make the experience more inclusive, giving more local businesses a chance to join while encouraging residents and visitors to explore the city’s café culture.

CTOO officer-in-charge Willenito Tormis Jr. said the initiative has grown into a staple of Duaw Davao celebrations, reflecting the city’s effort to promote local flavors in a more accessible way.

“We have extended our Kape ug Tsokolate Crawl to make it more inclusive. Before, only a few small shops participated, but now, we’ve scaled it up so more establishments can join and more Dabawenyos can visit them,” he said.

Showcasing Davao’s Cacao Identity

Beyond the café experience, the crawl also puts a spotlight on Davao’s strong cacao heritage. The city is officially recognized as the country’s “Chocolate Capital” under Republic Act 115471, which also designates the Davao Region as the “Cacao Capital of the Philippines.”

The recognition underscores cacao’s role in supporting local farmers, strengthening rural livelihoods, and expanding opportunities for export. It also reinforces Davao’s position as one of the country’s key producers of quality cacao and chocolate products.

How Participants Can Join and Win

To join the crawl, participants visit participating coffee and chocolate shops and collect stickers from each stop. Completing the sticker journey gives them a chance to receive rewards from the city government.

Only locally owned establishments offering at least five coffee or chocolate-based drinks are eligible. Around 50 businesses will be selected through a raffle, provided they meet the set guidelines.

“This year’s crawl has been expanded to include more cafés and chocolate stores, offering Dabawenyos and tourists more opportunities to explore Davao’s homegrown flavors,” Tormis said.
