Davao City has once again proven its commitment to public safety, securing a spot in the top three safest cities in Southeast Asia for 2024. According to the latest rankings from the crowdsourced platform Numbeo, Davao ranks third, following Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Singapore, which hold the top two positions.
The ranking–based on the Safety Index compiled from user-submitted data–evaluates cities across a variety of factors including crime rates, police effectiveness, and residents' overall perceptions of safety. With a score of 71.6, Davao City continues to stand out for its low crime rates, efficient law enforcement, and a strong sense of security among its residents. This marks the city’s third consecutive year in the top three, having previously ranked second in 2023 and third again in 2022.
Other Philippine Cities in the Safety Rankings
While Davao City leads in the Philippines, other cities in the country also made it into the regional rankings, though with more varied results. Cebu City placed 11th, while Quezon City and Manila ranked 17th and 18th, respectively. The rankings underscore Davao City's position as a standout example of public safety, with its focus on crime prevention and community involvement.
The Davao City Police Office has expressed pride in this continued achievement, emphasizing that the city’s safety is a collective effort. Local officials, barangay leaders, and residents all play crucial roles in maintaining a secure environment. With ongoing investments in safety initiatives and a strong partnership between the community and law enforcement, Davao City remains a beacon of safety in Southeast Asia.
