MPT South, a division of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), has increased its capital spending by 75% to P14 billion for the upcoming year.
According to Raul L. Ignacio, president and general manager of MPT South, the funds would help complete important sections of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) and the CAVITEX C5 Link.
Developmental plans
The CALAX Governor's Drive Interchange, Open Canal Interchange, Kawit Interchange, and C5 Link Segment 3B—which links the Sucat Interchange to the C5 Link Flyover Extension—are among the planned projects.
To improve driver connectivity, these toll roads will be integrated as part of the ongoing CAVITEX-CALAX Link project.
Before the end of 2025, the segments are expected to operate commercially, bringing MPT South's road network to 67 kilometers.
Aiding motorists
When the expressway network is finished, it will be able to accommodate about 340,000 drivers every day, and to improve the flow of goods and services between important commercial and industrial locations.
Reductions in travel time, fuel use, and car emissions are expected due to the upgraded infrastructure, improving both the quality of life for locals and the economic growth of the area.
In addition, MPTC is the concessionaire for a number of additional expressways, including the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, NLEX Connector Road, North Luzon Expressway, and Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway.
