The Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) plans to build an entertainment complex in Clark, Pampanga, valued at P32 billion, starting 2025.
The project is aimed to accommodate big concerts and enhance the local economy and tourism.
The news was made amid disappointment among Filipino fans that the country was left out of Taylor Swift's "Eras" tour, with rumors circulating that local venues failed to meet the concert's standards.
Wanting to attract high-profile performers
When the new arena is finished, CIAC president Arrey Perez stated that the company plans to bring in international performers, such as Taylor Swift.
“When we had this vision to have the entertainment center in Clark, we already did a lot of promotions, market sensing. We’ve gotten some interest,” Perez said.
The vast project, which covers 40 hectares, will include residential areas, a mall, an aviation school, and a multi-modal port.
Economic boost
The entertainment complex, which will offer a cutting-edge venue for a variety of large-scale events, is anticipated to greatly boost the local economy and increase the number of visitors to Clark.
The projected capacity of the entertainment complex is estimated to be between 20,000 and 35,000.
“We've done some studies. It's hard to fill up 55,000 seats. Ang pinaka-ideal really is about 25,000 to 35,000 seats kasi, mas maraming events na naho-host,” Perez said.
