Teams from Lasip National High School and Pangasinan National High School have made headlines with their outstanding performances at the International Environment Young Investigator 2024 held in Taiwan. Competing against entries from 21 countries, the local high school teams have achieved significant honors, marking a historic milestone for their schools and the whole country.
Pangasinan National High School Secures Top Honors
The Pangasinan National High School team delivered an exceptional performance, securing an impressive array of awards. Their achievements included one Platinum, one Gold, one Silver, two Bronze medals, and a Special Award from Russia. These accolades underscore the team’s dedication and ability to excel at the highest levels of international competition.
Lasip National High School Makes an Impressive Debut
In their first appearance at an international event, the Lasip National High School team achieved remarkable results. The team earned a Bronze medal and received Special Awards from Japan and Vietnam. Notable participants included Grade 11 student Wayne Mina and Grade 12 student Mark Erick Dela Cruz, who presented a novel solution for fruit fly eradication, capturing the attention of the judges.
Festive Welcome for Returning Champions
Upon their return to the Philippines on August 9, 2024, the victorious teams were met with a celebratory reception. The students expressed immense pride in their achievements and the opportunity to represent their schools and country on the global stage. “Masayang-masaya dahil nagkaroon kami ng opportunity to represent our school — not [just] our school, but the farmers, community, and also the Philippines,” said Dela Cruz.
