From July 1 to July 30, 2024, drivers using CAVITEX will be able to travel without paying a toll.
Following the approval of a board decision by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), drivers utilizing the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway will enjoy a 30-day toll break, according to a statement from the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
This is one part of an overall initiative to advertise recently built highway segments.
Introducing new roads to motorists
Areas in Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Bacoor, and Kawit are free of tolls during the month, including the recently completed CAVITEX C5 link Sucat Interchange, which opened on June 21.
It is anticipated that the 1.9-kilometer Sucat interchange will assist almost 23,000 vehicles every day by cutting down the one-hour travel time from CAVITEX R-1 (Coastal Road) to Sucat, Parañaque City, to just five minutes. With the toll holiday, motorists can now use the link for free.
Class 1 vehicles (cars, jeepneys, vans, pickups, and motorbikes) pay between P35 and P73 in tolls at CAVITEX, Class 2 vehicles (buses, light trucks), and Class 3 vehicles (big trailer trucks) pay between P70 and P146.
Future plans
The CAVITEX C5 Link Expressway Segment 3B, a two-kilometer stretch of road that would link the Sucat Interchange to C5 Road, Taguig, is another ongoing project as part of the broader CAVITEX vision.
Its goal is to reduce the 40-minute travel time from CAVITEX R-1 to the SLEX/C5 Road to just 10 minutes, which was defined by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the "final step" in the broader C5 link expressway.
The CAVITEX C5 Link Expressway Segment 3B is expected to be completed in August 2025.
