DepEd Tarlac Creates Digital Hub to Bring More Support to Schools

DepEd Tarlac is introducing a new digital platform designed to make it easier for schools to connect with organizations, individuals, and groups willing to provide support. The initiative seeks to address a long-standing challenge of matching school needs with potential partners that want to contribute to education programs and student development.

Called Project TarlaKoLab, the platform serves as a centralized information hub and resource-matching system that allows stakeholders to identify schools requiring assistance and discover opportunities for collaboration. The Department of Education (DepEd) in Tarlac province developed the project to strengthen partnerships and improve access to resources for schools and learners throughout the province.

Making School Needs More Visible

The platform was introduced by the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) through its Social Mobilization and Networking Unit (SMNU). According to DepEd Tarlac, the project was created in response to repeated inquiries from various stakeholders seeking ways to help schools but lacking a clear and accessible avenue to do so.

Project TarlaKoLab aims to simplify the process of linking schools with potential partners by providing a publicly accessible space where educational needs and partnership opportunities can be viewed in one location. Through the platform, schools can become more visible to organizations and individuals interested in supporting learning programs, infrastructure projects, and other educational initiatives.

Project TarlaKoLab lead proponent and SGOD-SMNU Education Program Specialist Jenika Bianca Icasiano-Alcantara explained the challenge that inspired the initiative.

“We often receive inquiries from potential partners asking which schools need help or how they can connect with schools. While we have this information internally, there was no centralized and publicly accessible platform where stakeholders could easily view school needs and opportunities for collaboration,” she said.

Strengthening Community Partnerships

Education officials believe that stronger collaboration between schools and stakeholders can help address resource gaps more efficiently while creating meaningful opportunities for community involvement.

Alcantara emphasized that the platform is intended to make partnerships more effective and beneficial for all parties involved.

“We often receive inquiries from potential partners asking which schools need help or how they can connect with schools. While we have this information internally, there was no centralized and publicly accessible platform where stakeholders could easily view school needs and opportunities for collaboration,” she said.

She added that the initiative was designed to create a more streamlined and transparent system that can encourage greater participation from private organizations, civic groups, and community partners.

By making school needs easier to identify and address, Project TarlaKoLab could help bring additional resources to classrooms and learners across Tarlac. For many Filipino students, stronger school-community partnerships can translate into better learning opportunities, improved facilities, and expanded educational support, contributing to the broader goal of improving education outcomes in the province and the country.
