Manila is ready to welcome runners, music lovers, and cultural supporters once again as the AIA Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Manila officially launches its 5th edition for 2026. The event was introduced during a special media conference at Bulwagang Villegas, Manila City Hall, hosted by television personality Andrei Felix.
Set for November 29, 2026, the race will bring together sport, music, Filipino culture, and Manila’s vibrant city spirit. This milestone edition carries the theme “ito ay atin, sariling atin,” putting Original Pilipino Music, Filipino creativity, and community pride at the heart of the celebration.
A Milestone Celebration of Filipino Identity
The launch gathered key partners, media representatives, influencers, run clubs, and special guests, including Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, AIA Philippines Brand, Marketing and Partnerships Director Katherine Wong, ASICS Philippines Brand Director Ines Preysler, Sunrise Events President and General Manager Princess Galura, and National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab.
Princess Galura shared that this year’s race is more than a running event. It is a celebration of Filipino identity, Filipino music, and the community that helped build Rock ‘n’ Roll Manila over the past five years.
As part of the internationally recognized Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series, Manila joins other host cities such as Las Vegas, San Diego, Nashville, Madrid, Mexico City, Santiago, and Taipei. Each destination brings its own local flavor to the global running experience, and Manila’s 2026 edition will proudly highlight Filipino music and culture.
Ryan Cayabyab’s Art and Music Take Center Stage
One of the major highlights of the launch was the reveal of the official 2026 medals and race shirts. The designs feature the original doodles and artistic expressions of National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab. Inspired by Manila landmarks and some of his most memorable songs, each race category carries a distinct identity.
The Marathon category features “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika,” while the Half Marathon highlights “Wala Kang Katulad.” The AIA 10KM celebrates “Mamang Kutsero” and “Paraiso,” the 5KM features “Limang Dipang Tao,” and the AIA 1KM Kids category showcases “Da Coconut Nut.” The Remix category features “Kumukutikutitap.”
Designed as a collectible anniversary series, the shirts and medals honor Filipino music, Manila heritage, and five memorable years of Rock ‘n’ Roll Manila.
The launch also featured special performances by Geneva Cruz, Ryan Cayabyab, and Reujen Lista, bringing OPM to the center of the celebration. Their performances reinforced the strong Filipino identity that will define the 2026 race experience.
Manila Strengthens Its Place on the Global Running Stage
Organizers also announced several new highlights for the anniversary edition. Runners can expect OPM-themed on-course music stations, expanded entertainment areas, cheer zones, and a major concert at the Quirino Grandstand featuring some of the Philippines’ favorite bands.
The celebration will also include a Global Running Day promo, offering introductory launch pricing across all distances for 36 hours starting June 3. Additional activities include a TikTok dance challenge and flash mob inspired by “Da Coconut Nut,” along with special collaboration merchandise and collectibles that celebrate Filipino music and Manila culture.
The 2026 edition also strengthens Manila’s place on the global running stage. The AIA Rock ‘n’ Roll Manila race course remains AIMS and World Athletics-certified, making it the first marathon course in the Philippines capable of officially accrediting qualifying times for the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
AIA Philippines highlighted its continued support for the race as part of its purpose to help people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives. Through running, the event encourages more Filipinos to take charge of their wellness, enjoy movement, and pursue opportunities to qualify for some of the world’s most prestigious marathons.
The official Manila finish times may be used toward qualification standards for major international races. This further raises the credibility of the event while positioning Manila as a world-class running destination.
