The Philippine National Women’s Football Team, Filipinas, will hold a training camp late next month instead of the previously scheduled one in the US, with an intrasquad game at the new SM Mall of Asia football field in Pasay City serving as the centerpiece.
Filipino fans get a unique opportunity to see the squad at home during the exhibition game held within the recently finished MOA Football Field.
“I am really looking forward to having the Filipinas back in action at home in Manila where their supporters can get a chance to experience the team up close in one of the city’s new and exciting football coaches,” Filipinas coach Mark Torcaso said,
What to expect from the new MOA pitch
Located on the roofdeck of the famous SM Mall of Asia, the MOA Football Field is anticipated to be a masterpiece of contemporary sports construction.
The Miami-based company Arquitectonica created the sporting facility in accordance with FIFA standards, and it represents a major turning point in the nation's sports infrastructure.
As part of a larger plan, the project's goals went beyond simply increasing shop space to include building a stadium that would support Filipino football culture.
The local football community, which has long aspired for top-notch facilities, was especially excited about the field's completion.
MOA pitch showcase
The Filipinas will have the privilege of opening this new location in February 2025 when they train and play an exhibition game.
The camp and match are considered as opportunities for the team to prepare for a demanding year that includes the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers, ASEAN Women’s Championships, and the Southeast Asian Games.
The football field–which also has a botanical garden–is being referred to as the new "wow factor" of the Mall of Asia.
