Design Philippines will showcase approximately 200 crafts from the province of Quirino for the Ambiente Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, from January 26 to 30, highlighting the province's craftsmanship to the world. As the nation's emblem, Design Philippines, promotes Filipino companies' and producers' ingenuity and craftsmanship globally.
This year, the Ambiente Fair will spotlight new insights into modern living, focusing on circular design, resource efficiency, archive finds, and cutting-edge inventions as major sources of inspiration.
The event will be held during the sourcing event with the European market, placing emphasis on the province’s abundance of natural resources to craft helpful home and lifestyle items. Quirino province will showcase fossilized flowers, purses, clothing, furniture, wood sculpture, and locally manufactured décor from their towns.
Exposing MSMEs to the international market
Eleven micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) and small manufacturers of local products were chosen from the initial list endorsed by the provincial government to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
This includes Maddela Flowers and Crafts by Emillia Fernandez, the RJS Furniture Manufacturing of Ponggo, Nagtipunan by Lolita Ambre, the Melissa Alipio Furniture of Cabarroguis, the Ulat Wood Carvings of Diffun by Pedro Ulat, and the Livelihood Association of Igongots or the Wasid Tribal groups of Wasid, Nagtipunan leads the list of enterprises.
Additionally, the ELC Cornhusk Handicrafts of Sangbay, Nagtipunan by Amy Corpuz, the Marivic Furniture of Maddela by Junior Binomnga, the Rosalinda Handicrafts of Saguday Melba Holo, the Dumabato Senior Citizen’s Association of Maddela, the Conan Arts and Crafts ng Ponggo, Nagtipunan, and the Macate Diffun United Farmers Association of Macate, Diffun make up the Filipino contingents.
To relieve the enterprises of the financial load, the provincial, local government unit, acting through the provincial governor, is subsidizing MSMEs' participation.
Symbols of Quirino’s identity
The businesses' product development focused on the province's cultural character, raw material availability, and capacity to satisfy export sector expectations.
Many of the goods are composed of wood, resin, woven fiber, clay, ceramics, and other materials with an emphasis on sustainability.
Named for the former president Elpidio Quirino, Quirino was established in 1971 and is known as the "Forest Heartland of Cagayan Valley." The landlocked area is known for its breathtaking sceneries best suited for those who enjoy the great outdoors.
